Alfred Visiting Art Center

The Alfred Visiting Art Center is the frst building in Alfred, New York to house visiting artists who create their work on site. Intended to improve and maintain communal relationships, this gallery connects the creator and appreciator of art, groups who otherwise may otherwise never interact.

Eleven dominating columns establish this building as a hierarchal point of interest in the village of Alfred. Cantilevered live/work units enable a deliberately selective connection of public and private spaces. The material choice makes the building ft into the existing industrial style of Alfred on a site previously absent of any communal function.
